[/quote] You absolutely never know. Some kids are fine all of their lives and the severe mental illness creeps in around ages 18-20. One of my brothers had to be institutionalized for 2 years at age 20. The problem is that nowadays people aren’t institutionalized - no one wants to pay for it is mostly the reason . I understand how people shouldn’t be put away for life — they used to institutionalize Mentally retarded people for life - but what we have now is not good at all. Mostly what they do now is a 3 day hold if they are a danger to themselves or others which does not fix anyone ( my brother has been gainfully employed for years and stable). I sincerely hope that you don’t have to deal with this, PP. It sounds like this mom had done many things right as her son was living in his own housing. Where is dad? [/quote]
