Sort of agree. You know how every time they do those news stories about legalizing pot all the smokers fit the same mold.
no, what mold? Lots of diversity in cannabis use.
...but very little diversity in the population of people who would even consider risking their child's health and wellbeing by exposing them directly, just so they can get high
This is assuming that the only reason someone would use cannabis is to "get high" What about people who use for chronic pain relief? Or as an anxiolytic? The drugs "approved" to use in breastfeeding for those conditions are few and far between...and usually the consensus is that if the benefits to the mother outweigh the potential risks to the baby, they are recommended. Why should cannabis be any different?
Because OP isn’t saying she is in chronic pain or needs medical THC. I took prescribed medication while pregnant. And it was a careful risk benefit analysis with my doctors. Wrongly, IMO, there is almost no research out there on the risk benefit analysis with THC and pregnancy and breastfeeding. Usually drug are classified by potential harm to pregnancy and women who must take them when pregnant are monitored, and shot and long terms problems for them and their baby are monitored. All drugs taken in pregnancy are not created equally. For example, I was moved to an older medication because the I was on before trying to get pregnant was too new for good data. The only one was less effective, but O could manage. And it had a long track record in pregnant women. With pot, there are no long term studies because there is no federal approved use. So there is no way to know if benefits outweigh risks.
