I complained to the friendship heights WF that the hot food bar is not what it used to be. Now it is almost entirely Ethiopian food which they even have the description for in the Ethiopian language . I keep thinking I'm in an Ethiopian restaurant or in Ethiopia, rather than WF in Washington DC. I was told that WF will continue the Ethiopian hot food theme permanently because they are there to service the large Ethiopian customer base. I think there is a greater Hispanic population. I think the chefs are just cooking for themselves and are the majority of the Ethiopian customer base they keep referring to. Why not rotate the foods or at least do half Ethiopian? I can't believe they are turning a profit on that hot food bar, their food is an acquired taste that does not appeal to the masses. Sometimes the food looks untouched. I miss the chicken enchiladas, vegetable lasagna, hot sautéed mushrooms. We didn't even have any holiday dishes for Christmas eve. A Virginia baked ham would have been a nice local holiday dish. On a meatless Monday, they had 5 varieties of rice, 5 varieties of beans and corn. How can you make a meal out of that? There was no pasta dish or any main course. The food gets grosser and grosser.
I wonder if it has to do with the unofficial metro cab stand outside? Why is this a cab stand?
I'm PP. I think you are correct. The cab drives are getting 10 lb plates all the time. They also got rid of my mediteranian salad dressing. Even a cashier used to live the mac and cheese, but said no more. It's just not worth it anymore. Let the foreigners spend their entire paycheck on that garbage. I'm no longer a customer.
Ethiopians can be Americans too, even cab drivers
