Returned from a business trip to 4 cameras outside the house and 1 in the living room (and I’m guessing there’s probably more I don’t know about). I work from home, so I spend 90% of my life there. DH is now getting notified every time I move past a camera. I have nothing to hide, but I feel like I should have a reasonable expectation of privacy in my own home. DH says I’m doing something shady since I don’t want him to be notified when I come and go. I asked him if he was going to give me access to the cameras as well, and he said no. So, what now? I’m not staying or working in the house while under surveillance. Get a long term Airbnb and see if he gives it up? How would I even believe he actually removed them? He’s always shown paranoid tendencies, but this takes the cake.
1. Create a 6-12 month plan for living on your own with no support for him. Do you comingle funds? Try to set up your own escape money. 2. Find a way to reduce expenses. Move in with family or a friend if you cannot afford to move in on your own. 3. Document any instances like this that have occurred int he past. Begin writing in a journal. Paper cannot be deleted, and is much more private than electronic, btw. But you can also send emails to yourself. 4. Get counseling and file for divorce. 5. Continue counseling through the divorce process. Never get into a relationship like this again. Wanting to tape you during the day is psycho. This is how stories begin that end in horror. Small, crazy concessions to your rights that gradually increase. Then you are in so deep, it's hell to leave. You should fear staying more than leaving.
