I actually looked it up based on government data and Pomona has 69% of students with a household income below 75K and 22% above 110K, compared to 33%/52% at Scripps, 43%/45% at Claremont McKenna, 45%/36% at Pitzer, and 35%/46% at Harvey Mudd. As a previously low-income student, I definitely felt I would fit in best among Pomona students entering college.
69% of students at Pomona come from families with HI below 75k? Wow. The figures for all the colleges, not just Pomona, are impressive. The eastern LACs will have very different ratios.
I have a difficult time believing that number! Do you have a link?
If you go to IPEDs (https://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/datacenter), click on an institution, and search "Reported Data", on the Student Financial Aid & Net Prices component you can see this data. It's kind of a pain to find, but Niche already includes it in their data for different schools, if you want to see it quickly: https://www.niche.com/colleges/pomona-college/students/ https://www.niche.com/colleges/pitzer-college/students/ https://www.niche.com/colleges/scripps-college/students/ https://www.niche.com/colleges/claremont-mckenna-college/students/ https://www.niche.com/colleges/harvey-mudd-college/students/
Average family income of Pomona students is pretty consistent with Pomona's peer schools. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/projects/college-mobility/pomona-college Students from family income in top 1% = 14% Students from family income in top 20% = 67% Students from family income in bottom 20% = 4.4%
