Im not against weed but it does seem odd that it sounds like a lot of you can't function in your marriages unless you are high.
I don't think that's it at all. I am another who used to enjoy this with my spouse and fully expect to again someday, but haven't (and likely won't) for awhile due to our stage of life. And it's totally fine. I don't really think much about it at all, tbh. Everyone is "functioning" just fine. I agree wirh OP: it's certainly an enhancer, and a great way to relax and unwind and bond (...and yes, the physical aspect is amazing.). But you can have (and appreciate!) something that enhances or improves your marriage without being unable to function without it. And for (most) people posting here, this sounds like something that they do together a couple times a week or so. Not something that's happening day in and day out as a crutch to get through life. When we're talking about two responsible adults who are taking care of everything that needs to be taken care of and enjoy getting a little buzzed together at the end of the day...good for them! Who would have a problem with that? I run with a pretty successful, accomplished crowd and this is more common than you might think. To those of you who have visceral reactions...don't knock it until you've tried it! A hit or two (or quarter of a cookie, or whatever) helps me slow down, live in the moment and relax, improves my mood, helps smooth the irritable harriedness of a long stressful day, makes me feel a little lovey dovey, makes me want to laugh, helps me get out of my own head and enjoy getting turned on...it's good stuff! For people saying they tried it as a teen and remember having it, you probably smoked too much. Maybe in a weird environment. You were likely worried you'd get in trouble. You had no idea what strain you were smoking. Etc. the big one, though, is that you smoked too much. For me one small hit (small! Not the type where you cough your lungs out) does the trick - no passing the joint back and forth 5 times a la Reefer Madness. At the risk of giving too much advice, if you try it and don't love it the first time, chances are you might by the third. And no, I do not NEED weed to accomplish any of these things. Like I said, I haven't partaken in several years and won't for awhile...and that's fine. It's not something that really crosses my mind or defines my life or anything. But I can certainly appreciate its nice effects (and would totally recommend trying it)! I feel you, OP
OP here..thank you for your response. It is spot on! Both my husband and I, as well as my best friend and her husband are successful functioning adults. We are all good parents and our kids are happy. Our marriages are happy. I agree that if for some reason we could not partake we would be fine. We dont use it as a crutch anymore than a couple that drinks together to blow off some steam.
There is no other reason to smoke pot other than to get high. There are other reasons people enjoy drinking wine and cocktails and beer, that have more to do with the culinary tastes with food, than with drinking together to "blow off some steam."
This is laughable! The majority of adults I know abuse alcohol! Where do you think the mommy wine culture has become so prevalent? Parents posting about needing their wine after a day with the kids, or the moms and dads who drink at the country club pool or at the neighborhood BBQ
