I'm the PP. My point was to tell OP that she very well may get into TR at another grade level. Not really a brag, but I do see how it comes across that way. Apologies.

Statistically it may sound bizzare, but it's true. OP, if you're not comfortable sending your child now, YOU CAN WAIT. It's not necessary a crapshoot. Do what's best for your child. Proof is below.

Lol, this is such a dumb post! Even accepting your lottery luck for what it was, you have to realize that being accepted 3 out of 4 years is an extremely unlikely outcome at a school that features triple-digit waiting lists for many grade levels. Trying to generalize your experience makes no sense. Also “Do what’s best for your child”... what the hell does that even mean? Everyone tries to do what is best for their child... the difficulty sometimes is figuring out what that is.[/quote]

I'm sorry that you feel my post is dumb. I'm just trying to show a different perspective to OP. Everyone on this forum talks about the negativity of the lottery. "It's a crapshoot!" "Take what you can get!" OP clearly had concerns about the school for her 4 year old. Only OP can make the "best" decision for her child...but it may not be accepting the TR spot this year. And that's OKAY. She's not shunned from subsequent years just because she said no this year. That's all.[/quote]

NP. You weren't sharing your "perspective". You were sharing results. Which are of course technically possible. The lottery doesn't take into account past results. The numbers are what they are, and they are all public. Your post seems to imply that somehow people are overstating that the percentages do not favor lottery entrants. That's just silly. Since the odds of matching are very, very small, someone would be a fool to believe that the probability will match them again next year. Not because they matched this year (or didn't) but because the probability of matching in any year is just so small. That's not an "opinion" or a "perspective". It probability and basic arithmetic.
