How would you think you would know? My child is a high schooler, and I've recently learned there's a student in DCs grade that has a serious problem with alcohol. I would have made your claim in 7th or 8th grade, because the problem wasn't public enough at that point, and my child didn't run with that child's crowd. On the other hand, I was aware of a drug problem at another middle school because they expelled kids (and it made the middle school gossip channels, which is how I found out because my child wanted to know what happens when someone is expelled). My momentary thankfulness that my child wasn't being exposed to that was entirely misguided although I didn't know it at the time.[/quote]
