Arlington gets to "keep" a neighborhood school it otherwise might not (Barcroft) and with a bit of help (calendar change, keeping Barcroft boundaries intact), might even improve. And balancing the demographics better (across north AND south) benefits the school system as a whole.

Barrett has high walkability AND a large population of people that want to attend their neighborhood school and don't seek to transfer. Much higher than Barcroft and Carlin Springs as I recall. [/quote]
