She was a rare woman who held a the royal title of a man--Marquess of Pembroke--and owned property in her own right. Yes, she went down, but she went down swinging and her daughter, Elizabeth, held the crown against all odds. Do you get that Jane is the name of one of the first successful female authors in Europe, Jane Austen? Eve is the freaking mother of civilization in the Christian tradition.
