The appeals committee has reviewed the appeal regarding your child’s placement in the full- time Advanced Academic Level IV Program. After careful review of all data, including the new information provided with the appeal, the committee determined that your child is not eligible for Level IV services in Fairfax County Public Schools at this time. He will be going to floris elementary
Not eligible at this time. He is a 2nd grader applying in the round meant for 3rd through 8th graders. He is not eligible to enter into AAP mid year, which is what the October round is for (That is why this round includes 8th graders, for mid year admission). The correct round for a 2nd grader is the January round.
Exactly this. OP applied at the wrong time. The correct time would have been in January. It clearly states that those found eligible in the October round from homeschooling or private school can begin attending as a 3rd-8th grader in the second half of the year (which begins today). OP’s child is a current second grader and thus ineligible to attend right now. The correct time to apply would be January because then if the child is found eligible, he/she would attend in the fall as a third grader. It’s all right here: https://www.fcps.edu/node/31219
