Educational Consultant here - seriously, you are not right about this. It will blow over. I have actually pulled all of the data on this. Everyone said the same thing would happen with the Rolling Stone article - it didn't. Or Hannah Graham - it didn't. I could go on. Nothing is making a difference.. and these people are not pro-rape (the applications deadline occurred during the time when everyone thought the article was true) or pro-kidnapping students.. it's just that their desire for a top-name school at a low price supercedes their concern about any of this.
Yup. In my view, contrary thoughts are wishful thinking by 1) bitter rejects or 2) nova parents who are desperate for a decrease in applications so their so-so kids have a better chance at admission.
Not true at all. I live in Virginia and have zero desire for my child to attend UVA. The culture at the school is a disgrace. Racist and sexist views are rampant - I know firsthand that certain fraternities do not allow minorities to attend their parties for example. Its disgusting and the school overlooks it. In my view, supportive thoughts of the school are made by parents who are willing to turn a blind eye to blatant discrimination of minorities and women because they are 1) too cheap to pay for their kid to go to a private or out of state public school and need to justify their choice or 2) just don't care how minorities and women are treated there.
