Tell me more about Nantucket! I have been devouring Elin Hildebrands books (I need light reading these days), and we are heading to in-laws in Boston suburb. Worth the trip out?
How long do you have to visit? What are you thinking about doing when you're there? I finally bit the bullet and read my first EH book last week and loved it! (The Steamship Authority heavily advertise her books on the ferry and I always resisted out of principle, I guess, but i can see how she's a good ambassador for the island! I am partial to Nantucket as I grew up spending summers there (my parents have a home there) and even got married there. I've only been to the vineyard a few times, but they are both special in different ways. The Vineyard is cheaper / quicker to get to ($17 r/t, 35 minute ferry; Nantucket fast ferry is an hour and $75 r/t, although if you do a day trip M-Th, the price drops to $50 I believe.). Don't bother with the slow ferry to ACK if you only have a day or two as the slow ferry is just shy of 2.5 hours each way. I find the food and going out scene better on Nantucket . There's truly only one downtown area ('Sconset doesn't count) and it's right by the ferry. MV is a lot bigger and spread out so you have to plan a bit better...but there's more to "do" on MVY.
