Perhaps you are thinking of the stereotype of IT workers? You do realize that there are many IT jobs that are not "tech support". A good number of the programmers I know are fit or skinny hipsters. dH's two best friends co own their own IT company (the two of them are the only employees) and both are gym junkies who wouldnt be caught dead in pleated khakis.
