Only in DCUM is it a badge of honor to use decades old cutlery. Here, this will blow your mind. I get bored of mine and get new stuff every 5 years.
I don't do it for honor. I do it for practicality. I am very creative and into the performing arts. I don't need my cutlery to inspire me. I bought a set that seemed like it would last a long time, that was comfortable to hold, and that would go with any dishes. Basically, I wanted it to be boring. And I don't WANT to replace things all the time. I recycle and compost as much as I can. I'm not going to add to landfills because I'm bored. If I'm bored I'll go read a book or talk to someone or go to a museum or choreograph a dance or make up a new recipe.
Pick something classic that you really like and order restaurant quality through KaTom or other restaurant supply. Always get double amount of teaspoons. It won't discolor or bend. It's endlessly replaceable.
