I taught school for a number of years. If someone asked me how many Black students I had, I would have to look at them to remember. Of course, if I had only one or two, I would probably have been able to say so. Otherwise, I just didn't look at them that way. If I had to fill out forms for demographics, I would have to go down the list one by one in order to count. Except for some time in a Title I school, I always had well-mixed classes. I doubt I taught for one year where all races were not represented--maybe not so many from Middle East or India in those days.[/quote]
