Hardly any other suspects were even looked at. This is one of the main complaints from the DA's office and Investigator Smit. There was evidence to suggest it could've been an intruder but the Boulder PD had blinders on and only zeroed in on the Ramsey's. Apparently this often happens in high-profile cases where there is immense pressure to solve the crime quickly.

It's unfortunate the the police and media pretty much made up their mind that it was the family and hardly looked at the possibility of an intruder. The story became entertainment for the public to consume, rather than about all the facts. For instance, the police said there were no tracks in the snow so it had to be the parents or brother. It turns out there was no snow around many areas of the house. While the ransom note could've been Patsy's writing, it very well may not have been. What mother who has just accidentally murdered her child and then elaborately stages a cover-up, then sits down to write a 3 page ransom note? I would think it would be short and to the point given how frazzled she must've been.

My theory is that some pedophile, Santa or someone else, who knew the house and was obsessed with JB broke in while the Ramsey's were gone. The Ramsey's had let over 1,000 people into their home during a recent home tour. Some sicko would've known the house. He used a taser to sedate her and took her to the basement where he planned to kidnap her but it didn't work. He sexually assaulted her and then killed her. The most compelling evidence is that JB had what look to be fingernail marks around her neck where the garrote was. Meaning that she tried to pull it loose while being attacked. She was then hit with a blunt force object and killed. So it couldn't have been that she was struck first in the head and the strangulation was staged. She was trying to claw her way out of the strangulation. [/quote]
