I just read today's Northwest Current. I hadn't heard about this before, but there is a Friends of Hearst Pool group: http://friendsofhearstpool.org/ The pictures are worth 1,000 words in terms of the doom around traffic and parking, and tennis court usage. If you support the pool, sign their petition and join the list.
The material on this website is kind of ludicrous. The only identified site for a pool is a on one of the tennis courts and a small paved area used for basketball and hitting tennis balls. Is this "Friends" group really advocating that DC spend all this money to build a pool with a surface areas not much bigger than the in-play area of a single tennis court? With no pool house? And even if such a small pool were built at the location that the Friends group identifies, excavation of the site would be well within the drip line/canopy area of the large trees, necessitating their removal. It's often surprising, the degree to which some folks think other people can be taken for chumps. http://friendsofhearstpool.org/petition/
