I believe most working mom's wish they were SAHM. I think they are usually jealous.
I might be a bit jealous for about 5 years when the kids are young and I wish I could SAH with them (technically we could live off just DH's salary, but we would be giving up a lot of financial freedom.) But once they're in school, what in the world would I do all day? Scrub the toilets, prep dinner, and wait for my husband to get home? No thanks. Plus, as an attorney, I'd be so far behind professionally if I take time off. Once my kids are in school, they will benefit from seeing two hardworking parents and we will be better off financially/be able to fund college and our own retirement. And TBH, I was raised by a SAHM and barely remember anything from the first 3-4 years of life anyway, so it's not like her staying at home made some lasting impact. Gosh, it would be less stressful on a personal level to SAH early on though! If I did SAH though, it would be for me and not my kids haha.
