He was absolutely WRONG..  It was her ball.  He could have asked for it after the fact explaining it was his son's birthday but it was not in his section and it was in hers.  I can understand why she was upset and she had every right to be.

The dad gave her the ball because she was acting unstable and he wanted to show his kids it’s better to deescalate the situation. The fact that she was female had zero to do with it. You’re being deliberately obtuse to make this into something misogynistic. When the ball is hit into the stands it’s free game for everyone, especially in the area where not all the seats are full. When one person emerges with the ball that’s it, game over. Especially when the ball was given to a kid. This lady was completely unhinged and it’s not misogynistic to say that.
