We don’t have the culture/concern for the well being of others in this country for Democratic Socialism to work. Plus, [b]we’re just too big[/b]. And we’re still too Calvinist— “you deserve xyz because you work hard. And no, YOU over there don’t deserve a free bus ride a la Mamdani because I pay more in taxes and don’t feel like paying for those who don’t work/pay taxes or even go to school to ride the bus for free.

If we can’t agree on free bus fare, forget free tuition, free healthcare, free daycare, UBI…

It's mainly this. Plus most socialist countries exclude undocumented/illegal residents from universal healthcare, etc. 
I would concede to some sort of socialist universal healthcare....BUT only for US Citizens and Legal Residents.[/quote]
