Visi at Maryvale SR at SPSG Predictions?
There is an interesting conversation going on at BOTC about Maryvale having too many top players, and asking why talented players keep choosing Maryvale given how many top players are in the classes ahead of them. There are 24 college commits--20 D1 commits--just in the Junior and Senior classes. SPSG, by comparison, has 16 total and 14 D1; McDonogh has 12 D1. In the ISL/WCAC, only two schools are in double figures for '25 and '26 commits: SSSAS with 13 D1 and GC with 10 D1 commits in the uppercases. Even SR, Potomac, and Visi are at 8 or fewer; one-third of Maryvale's total. When you further note that Maryvale had at least a couple of Freshman make Varsity, it is clear that there is a completely different talent and depth level there. Imagine the tryouts and practices. I know they have a bunch of haters because they haven't done it before, and the blue bloods at SPSG and McDonogh will smack back with some quality over quantity post, etc., but Maryvale is my pick to win the IAAM this year and next if they can keep their Freshman and Sophomores from transferring.
IAAM is far superior to the D.C. leagues. WCAC and ISL are B leagues comparatively. It's an extension of the Baltimore travel teams killing D.C. travel teams from 6th-12th grade. Why would high school be any different?
This is correct. I would add, there are some D.C. kids that can play and start for the top IAAM teams, but overall, D.C. doesn't have the talent or depth.
