what would be the impact of this war on US? Should there be preparation/worry?
If Putin succeeds, he doesn't stop at Ukraine. There's also a huge Ukrainian-American population, vast majority of whom are recent immigrants and their 1st gen American kids. Lots of American citizens and Green Card holders in Ukraine itself. I would expect retaliatory cyber attacks on US infrastructure - hacking, ransomware - on the energy and banking sectors.
Isn't there also a huge Russo-American population? And lots of American citizens and green card holders in Russia/
Yes....but who is massing troops and doing the invasion? It's not Ukraine.
Ukraine is threatening to topple Russia militarily.
Thanks Vlad, but the facts do not bear this out. Russia is the aggressor here. They are in violation of the previous two accords and are militarily occupying Ukrainian sovereign territory and have for years. They amassed more troops, they engaged in cyber attacks and are now actually attacking in the name of self-defense. Ukraine has no interest to "topple Russia militarily" - they want Russia out but have lived with the status quo. this is all Putin.
