I won't judge these people because I have not walked in their shoes but I have to wonder as an early pp stated "Who adopts a BOY from China?" If you know anything about Chinese culture and society, you would have to know there are some serious issues with this child that he would be given up by his birth family and placed with a foreign [i]family.
They specifically sought a child with special needs, and they knew he had significant needs prior to adopting him. They were not clueless, they're just vile people.
They didn’t know how severe they were until they brought him back to the US and had doctors here evaluate him.
Yes they did. One doctor advised against it. He has seizures in utero or a brain tumor. Different stories but there is a reason for it all. It was not hidden.
Correct. It was abundantly clear that this child was going to have MAJOR issues and the first doctor (correctly) advised them against adoption, probably also aware they had multiple other children. The doctor had been on board and saw the brain scans sent from China and changed her tune and said it was a bad idea and they should halt the adoption proceedings. For whatever dimwitted reason, they thought they knew better. I'm guessing a "God and love cures ALL!" mindset. Listen, taking on a child with these issues is not for the faint of heart. I wouldn't do it if not thrust upon me biologically because I know my capabilities and I'm not cut out for it, particularly with 4 kids already. But they knew, were advised against it, and moved forward. That's all on them.
