We keep being told to pour more money in this conflict while the Ukranians are “winning.” Time to cut our losses.
Oh goodness sunshine. There are no "our losses" here. Russia's invasion of Ukraine has been a gift from God for the West. Our most significant adversary over the past 80 years has seen its military capabilities utterly wrecked in the past 18 months. Poland, the Baltics, and Germany no longer have to worry about a Russian invasion. NATO has in fact expanded to include Finland and Sweden, which anyone who's been alive for more than two minutes, will acknowledge is a truly remarkable thing. Most European nations have been all in with supplying Ukraine with the weapons they need to defend against the Russian invasion. The US is supplying 90s era weapons that were due to be decommissioned regardless. It's cheaper to give it to Ukraine than to decommission. And almost all that money stays within the US. Think of it. For 80 years, Russia - and previously the Soviet Union - was an existential threat to everyone. We have spent trillions to counter that. And in 18 months or so, Ukrainians have eliminated that threat to the West. Absolutely heroic. Supplying Ukraine is the cheapest investment ever. It's maybe 5 percent of the pentagon budget. The return has been priceless.
