... as though businesses should apparently be forced to sell things that they no longer agree with... not to mention, conservative outrage that people might boycott businesses that sell confederate merchandise - as though people should not be allowed to vote with their dollars.
Totally agree - businesses should be able to decide what they do and do not sell, what kind of cakes they make and do not make... Oh, wait...
False attempt at equivalency there. A wedding cake is a wedding cake no matter who it's for. And either a business bakes and sells wedding cakes, or they do not. Either a business sells Confederate merchandise or they do not. If the argument is "we bake and sell wedding cakes for person A but not for person B" then that is the problem. Stores certainly aren't out there saying "I won't sell Confederate merchandise to that guy but I *will* sell it to this other guy." As such, your attempt at using it for analogy isn't working. Again, a wedding cake is a wedding cake. Only difference is maybe there's two bride cake toppers or two groom cake toppers, but these days, most times people don't even use those, they might use the couple's monograms, flowers, or other decorative cake toppers instead of figures. What difference should it make to the baker? It's really no different It's not as though Christian bakeries were ever being asked to actually make objectionable cakes, like gigantic pink penis cakes with spooge made out of frosting for any weddings, for crying out loud. If they ever were, it was only to troll them after the fact, just like the jackass ordering the ISIS cake did.
