The IB percentage at Eaton has steadily increased after being in the trough for a long time. The Cleveland Park community really embraces Eaton as it's neighborhood school. Parents like the mixture of neighborhood kids and kids from other parts of the city. It would be a shame if Eaton loses this neighborhood identity if parents pull their kids out early or avoid enrolling altogether.
If the IB percentage has improved at Eaton, it is because of the recession, NOT IB families embracing it as a neighborhood school-it is primarily OOB-Cleveland Park families not attending Eaton-before complaining about feeder changes from Deal to Hardy, support your neighborhood elementary and GO THERE!
The trend of more neighborhood kids going to Eaton started well before 2008 and has continued unabated. But taking away the middle school to which Eaton has fed for decades unfortunately will change that.
