They are eliminating split feeders at both Wolftrap and Spring Hill ES.

Scenario 1 tries to eliminate Navy as a split feeder - by moving current Navy Chantilly HS families (including Highland Oaks) all the way to Oakton HS. Sorry but not interested in that commute. The elementary school kids all change friends in middle school anyway. I’m not sure I see a need to keep all of the elementary at the same high school?

OOPs! I Must have misread.  I thought you were moving all of Navy IN to Chantilly. But, those Navy kids live across the road from Chantilly.  They should not move them out.[/quote]

Yeah. Scenario 1 moves all Navy kids out to Oakton. Scenario 3 moves all Navy kids in to Chantilly. Scenario 2 leaves the Navy kids’ high schools alone which is why I’m in favor of that one.

The scenarios are all crazy because there are too many moving pieces.  There are separate issues that really do not affect Chantilly (it is pretty much a given that Oak Hill will leave), Centreville, and Westfield.

So, they have put the shift between Fox Mill and Crossfield into maps while they are shifting around schools south of 50 to determine who goes to Westfield.

These should be two separate things.  The only thing that confused the issue was when they put Lee's Corner into the mix--when it should not have been there.

There should be maps for Skyview (north of 50) and separate maps for filling Westfield (south of 50) for high school.

I completely disagree with this. Crossfield not going to Skyview and demanding Franklin MS (to stay at Oakton) forces out many Chantilly families from Franklin MS. That disrupts the Navy cohort at the middle school level. And now to compensate they are splitting up Navy to Franklin and Rocky Run. Which hurts the Navy Oakton families who get sent to Rocky Run.

Crossfield not going to Skyview forces more Westfield families to have to fill Skyview, as a result leaving a greater hole at Westfield that has to be backfilled. They tried to use Lees Corner, a school in walking distance of Chantilly, to backfill Westfield.

They really need to set the boundary for Skyview, leave everyone else alone and see how Skyview relieves overviewing at the other high schools first before making huge changes.
