My religion is better than yours. Bla bla bla. The ECNL parents are so obnoxious and nervous about GA. You never see them posting about other leagues. My oldest played at both GA and ECNL (Discovery player) games and events. Believe it or not but the league games and events are nearly identical. You just go to different clubs. ECNL does have an advantage because they have more established clubs. But, GA has multiple established clubs as well. Over time GA clubs will continue to get better and better. Its just how things work. In our regional league GA has added multiple very good clubs. Its amazing how good some are considering they were blocked out of both GA and ECNL for so long. Change has already occurred. GA has made themselves a spot at the table. ECNL parents can go cry somewhere else.
Because no other group of parents from any other league constantly writes nonsense like this about ECNL. That’s why you ECNL parents don’t talk about other leagues. Only the mighty girls Academy league.
The constant reference to ECNL parents is a deflection. I don’t care about ECNL. My kid plays GA. I want GA to succeed. Having U13 teams with -58 and -33 goal differentials after 8 games is a problem. The chasm between top half and bottom half is a problem (Rankings app says top half on average is inside top 200 and bottom half on average is outside top 1200). Those are facts. If you think those facts are ok, then your vision for GA is different than mine, and I bet it’s different than GA’s as well. Everyone would be better off if the uncompetitive teams dropped to Aspire until they right the ship. It’s not about ECNL. Blah blah blah.
If Aspire is the relegation - how does that work? To be GA1, you have to field a team at every age group. GA would need to change the framework to allow for the mix. Top two teams in Aspire are promoted, and bottom two GA1 are relegated? Clubs could have two teams in Aspire or GA1, then? Clubs like NVA are now in both divisions? Champions Cup Club qualification would be blown up. How do you schedule Club to Club play when you don't have a team in every age group - or you have two? Are you paying for my new uniform / patch?
Relegation does not work in a market the size of the ours. If one of the NoVA GA clubs were relegated, every single player of any caliber from those teams would simply move to a nearby GA club. The relegated club would be finished. Eventually there would only be a few clubs remaining which is what some want to happen but then there aren't enough local teams to play and the few clubs would be forced to travel all over the place and people would complain and out of that demand for less travel new clubs would be created and join the league but they will be terrible and games will be uncompetitive so people will push to consolidate again. This is basically what has been happening in the DMV for the last 10-15 years. It's fun to watch the newcomers come to the scene and identify all the same problems and propose all the same solutions.
