Republican leadership is not laughing right now. The likes of Jim Jordan may be pretending to laugh on Twitter, but in reality, they're all consulting their lawyers on how to best avoid fallout, and how to pivot to DeSantis...

Which for the Democrats isn't better. DeSantis is a right-wing Republican who plays hardball. Pretty formidable adversary and in many ways more competent than Trump.

For the country, though, DeSantis is better than Trump, because he's not likely to need an aide purloining a signed order on the Oval Office desk, to prevent Trump's imminent threats to North Korea. Trump was incredibly dangerous. Our country was saved from numerous awful decisions just because White House staffers, by hook AND by crook, kept Trump from going over the guardrails. Another term might get us into WWIII.
