Not really.  For example many of Russia's most highly trained soldiers have also gotten wrecked at the front.  Airborne, spetznaz etc, it will take Russia many years to recover from losses already incurred.[/quote]

+1 on an Operational/Theater POV, but strategically there are bigger games afoot.

It makes sense Putin is in Beijing, since there's trouble in BRICS-land.  The Yuan is the de-facto foreign exchange currency of Russia.

This is a big deal, since the Indian Government could force the transaction, but didn't.  What it probably means is that the Indian government is worried that the Rupee will be torn down along with the Ruble.  This will put even more pressure on the Yuan and probably something Xi isn't wild about given his domestic situation.

Putin looking weak is a political liability for Xi, since Xi put a lot of personal capital in propping up Russia.  True, Biden is a mess compared to Putin, yet the mess is doing better than Putin?  Guessing the Putin-as-a-crab meme is more popular than ever.  Lately, Upper Management is making way too many mistakes.

For example, the war in Israel is probably not playing out in Russia as Putin would've hoped.

In an interesting twist, Solovyov claims Russia is on the side of Israel?  I suppose it is consistent with the "Ukes are Nazis" theme?

But Russia supports Syria and Egypt (think Arab 'Yom Kippur' allies), which could invade Israel at any time and screw up Russia's "Ukes are Nazis" theme.  So why would Solovyov do this?

Simonyan herself is in a similar situation.  Her ties to Armenia turned into a liability a few months back.
