Because the Queen was already dead and they had just dropped the children off for the first day of school. She needed to be there to pick them up and be with them for all of the stuff that is about to follow. With the exception of William and Harry - who were/were now about to be the children of a King — no other grandchildren or great-grandchildren were there. It’s not nefarious - this is part of a very-long planned out national event which it sounds like moved very quickly and didn’t have as much notice as people had presumed would happen.[/quote]

Because it’s clear this happened and progressed very quickly. Jenna Bush was supposed to interview Camilla for the Today show, and Camilla cancelled minutes before, and Jenna had dined with C&C the night before. William and Kate took the kids to school in the AM like a normal day. In the morning, it was business as usual. Something happened, and they put on a special RAF flight to get the children and William to Scotland, and they said she died “just after they got there” which is either crap or they kept her on some kind of life support. At the time of the school run, everyone was doing business as usual. I suspect the kids may not to to school today, but they may go just for some sense of normalcy and the big events funeral-related activities don’t start until tomorrow and next week.[/quote]
