Ukraine is key to lifting sanctions on Russia, Trump needed/needs their consent.
Ukraine is the only platform issue altered by the Trump campaign in Cleveland, 2016. Paul Manafort orchestrated it.

Manafort is in jail because of his Ukraine activities.
