Serves him right, idiot.
NP: I am very liberal and think people should do whatever they wish. However, that does not mean that what they do isn't idiotic. In this case, the guy was an idiot for going to North Korea, and an idiot of an even greater magnitude for tearing down a political poster.
It continues to amaze me that people believe NK and the fuzzy video that he stole the poster. Maybe he did, maybe he didn't, but to not question that allegation and the video is also being an idiot of some magnitude. Why in the world would you believe NK???
Because they are brainwashed idiots. And they want to believe the worst of a young, misguided college student who comes from a "privileged" background. They hate what they perceive as privilege and entitlement
I don't have to believe the worst of him to think he played with fire and got badly burned, nor do I think he was merely "misguided." And I do think his privilege and entitlement led him to believe that he could travel to North Korea without any consequences. My own sons are from a privileged background and if they chose to do something as stupid as travel to North Korea, I'd obviously be devastated if something terrible happened to them, but the consequences would be on them not on the president. And, the fact that we shouldn't necessarily believe NK about the poster incident is EXACTLY why it's dangerous and idiotic to travel there.
NP. This. Does anyone remember Michael Fay, the American kid who got caned and sent to jail in Singapore for vandalism in 1994? As an American, I'd probably take caning over time in a jail in Singapore, personally. Pay attention to travel warnings, people.
The lesson from the Fay case would be to behave and follow local laws when abroad. Indonesia executes drug smugglers regardless of nationality. Simple solution: don't smuggle drugs in Indonesia.
Fay was charged with stealing road signs and vandalizing cars in Singapore, although he said he didn't do the latter. I wasn't aware drugs were part of that case?
