Trump’s description of American is a horrible place. It’s all just killing, drug burning cities, pedophiles, etc. You can tell Trump and the Republicans really hate Americans
Is he lying though? Once you leave the northeast, the country looks very scary. Unless you make 1 million a year or more, you are struggling
Yes, he is lying. Despite trump, our cities are very desirable places to live and work and they are the economic engine of the country. So when he sends ICE to our cities, which push kids out of schools and business to shutter, it slows our economy down. And yes, people are struggling. And it is worse now than under the democrats, uless you are one of the billionaires. Trump told you what he was going to do and you voted for him anyhow.
The murder rate in DC is down literally 63% compared to last year. This is the DCUM forum. How can you say it was better to live in a place with a 63% worse murder rate? https://mpdc.dc.gov/dailycrime Moreover, even mainstream like the Washington Post are reporting that crime is down nationwide by staggering margins. How is this not a good thing?
MAGA said we couldn't trust local police crime stats or MSM sources, so I don't know what to believe about crime stats. But even if you believe crime is much lower, have you considered the cost? And whether or not it is sustainable? If you believe it's due to the presence of the NG in DC, consider these stats: *The NG mission costs roughly $1.1 million to $1.65 million daily. *Over $330 million has been spent on the NG deployment to DC in the first seven months. *The cost could exceed $600 million if extended through August 2026, which is comparable to the entire annual operating budget of the DC Metro police department. If you believe it's due to the "surge" of federal officers reassigned to DC duty, well that costs approximately $1 million per day for the "proactive collaboration" of federal agencies, including the FBI, DEA, ATF, and U.S. Marshals. And if these agents are working on crime in DC, what are they NOT working on?
Why are Dems such fiscal conservatives when it comes to staving off Black deaths? The NG has let to dozens more people not being killed and a murder rate so low that 2026 might be the lowest murder rate in DC in recorded history. I’d say not having a city that’s known as the murder capital of the world, like it was in the 90s when there were 500 murders a year, is a national security issue. I have no idea why this is a partisan issue and Dems would be happy with saying some money but having a dramatic uptick in murders.
No one has answered the question of how a NG program that costs $1-1.6 million a day is SUSTAINABLE in the LONG TERM? Do you have any thoughts on that? I mean, if it takes the presence of 2700 troops on the streets in DC every day to keep it safe, that doesn't seem like a feasible long-term solution. I've lived in several authoritarian countries with a large police and military presence on the streets and crime is definitely lower, but I don't think most Americans think that the permanent presence of troops on our streets is the ideal solution to solving crime in the long-term.
