Surprised more people aren't discussing the WaPo article. Sounds like the dads are colossal bullies and totally misrepresenting what happened: https://www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2025/07/10/nysmith-school-antisemitism-lawsuit/
I’m sorry, did we read the same article??? The WaPo article does absolutely nothing to absolve the school, and in fact corroborates several of the allegations in the complaint. In it, Nysmith HIMSELF admits that: 1. He refused to book a Holocaust speaker because of “the situation in Gaza” So he did a bunch of BLATANTLY antisemitic stuff (I don’t see how you can claim #1 above is not antisemitic, even if you don’t believe any of the many other allegations)
This kind of hysterical reaction is why so many moderates are finding some claims of anti-Semitism less than credible. Fact: The mass killing of civilians in Gaza has created intense anti-Israel feeling among people who believe Israel is guilty of war crimes. Is Judaism the religion synonymous with Israel the state? No. However, some Jews are making it synonymous by calling anyone who condemns Israel’s war crimes against civilians anti-Semitic. In the current geopolitical context, yes, I can see a school administrator not wanting to invite a speaker on the Holocaust. Why? Because people who feel passionately about Israel’s actions might try to use that forum to compare the treatment of Jews by the Nazis and the treatment of Palestinians by Israel. It could certainly polarize the community.
