imagine taking the top 18 rec players in an age group in all of fairfax county, who are 100% all good enough to be on a travel team, but aren't for their own reasons. Now, put them on one team together, then having them play against a "regular" rec team. this is called sandbagging... essentially playing a level down below the team's playing level just to win. This is what loudon does at every level with their top teams.
First of all you are not fielding a "regular" rec team, you are suppose to be putting together an all star team. Sorry if your idiot head coach keeps putting in his DC and her friends instead of the best possible team and try practicing earlier in the season. Remember that the teams LS are putting out there are U12 and below, so these are CHILDREN not professional players as you seem to make them sound. Most of them are around 10 years old +/- a couple years. To have some insane screaming banshee from CYA (pretty sure we know which team you are) trying to get these kids disqualified is disgusting and low. If you want your sombrero medal so badly go order one on Etsy. If you want to win these tournaments legit then stop whining about better teams and get supplemental training for your DC. If you don't want extra training because it is rec and you want to take it easy then that is fine too, but don't complain about those who do. Having better teams play in ALL STAR tournaments only elevates the game. Having people like you trying to disqualify good teams downgrades the tournament (not that the Valor tournament could get any lower).
without taking sides in the crazy CYA v. Loudoun ... are we really at the point where U10 rec kids are taking private training for rec??
No that is not what is being said. This CYA parent is upset that LS has a better program for their children so, so the suggestion was made (sarcastically) that if she's so upset go get some extra help.
I think if we took a poll of people in this thread, we'd conclude both sides here a little unhinged.
