What kind if personality can a child have when they were pushed to do worksheets and study for tests since very early age? When they didn’t have free time, play time, unstructured time? When they were not given any space to develop their own interests and passions, but were told by their parents that it was decided for them they must become a doctor/engineer/lawyer? This is a recipe for a very plain personality.
First off, Asians don't all raise their kids the same way. Seriously?! How stupid do you have to be to believe otherwise. Second, even a kid who works hard and has less unstructured play can have a personality, believe it not. Shocking, but freestyle parenting isn't the only kind of parenting that leads to real humans!! Third, it is a very trendy/white/waspy/UMC thing nowadays to praise kids endlessly, validate all their feelings, help them make friends and be popular, etc. That's fine if it's important to you but know there are others who disagree and think this style of parenting leads to entitled, selfish, hippie pricks who need their trigger warnings and safe spaces. If that's what you mean by personality, yeah, you are right, the tiger mom parenting style won't get you there. But we need good doctors, engineers, and lawyers, so some of us want serious parents.
