Wouldn't worry too much.  The only way this war will drag out is if India or China intervene, using the Russians as a pawn.  Either that or if he imports North Korean troops.  Putin is close to being that desperate - I'd look for movement on that front by June?  But what would he have to trade in return?  He's already sold out Russia's oil to both countries just to keep the Rouble afloat.  The only thing he has left of value to trade is technology and land - and my guess is the ultranationalist hard-liners wouldn't like that much?

I'd look forward more towards the new Russian regime's bargaining chips.  They could tempt the West with the identities of Russian spies and who they've turned.  I could see that as worth a 'get out of jail free' card?  Who knows what will pop up.  Republican Congressionals?  Chinese PLA generals?  Never know how high up the files go?[/quote]
