I respect the concept, but I think if your community resorts to a petition, the communication/sense of community is broken.

I have gone to my child's principal with my thoughts. Got warm feedback, with no admonishment or endorsement.

My children were told they must mask up to protect their teachers (many of whom are in high risk groups-and have no say over what happens in their workplace). Also, to avoid have to quarantine, they did multiple times last year.

My child said they understood, and added that they don't want to play with the kids who won't wear masks.

Conversations with individual schools are certainly encouraged and we had one too, however, schools have their hands tied and this petition sends an open message to a broader audience, namely the Arlington Diocese.[/quote]
