I took my disabled son just now out to shop for the week. We bought milk, yogurt, bagels, bananas, oranges, frozen chicken stips, frozen waffles, squash, zucchini, frozen green beans, canned peaches, bread and sandwich meat and peanut butter. Also crackers, cookies, sugar free soda. It is my bet that the jerks of DCUM would complain about every item on the list when you add them all up. This is what my son can prepare and likes to eat. Screw all of you who would take food away from him and people like him. You are just self righteous idiots.
Did you pay?
I literally see nothing wrong with this. Good for you and him for figuring out what works.
"My son paid with his SNAP card. Because I won't be alive forever, he needs to learn to shop and prepare meals on his own. He has been looking for work for months, but it is hard to get a job when you are disabled." Good for you. My disabled relative is in the same spot. He needs to learn to shop and prepare food too. He is 5'6" and 130 lbs. He does not buy soda or chips. He eats a lot of rice, and he received a rice cooker for his birthday. We live in VA. He lives in a "supportive care" shared apartment that is mostly funded by a private group, but he pays $825 of his $941 disability check to live there. He was receiving $78 per month in SNAP but the last payment in October was $20. No one answers the phone, so we don't know why. The USDA website used to say that a man his age needs around $400/month for food and he gets $20.
