Hardly "low hanging fruit." And this ICE agent is yet another victim of Biden's border crisis. [twitter]https://x.com/DHSgov/status/1936454857864409244[/twitter] This “Bellevue man” is a known Tren de Aragua terrorist who violently attacked federal law enforcement. During the attack, the illegal alien threw an ICE agent to the ground, slammed her head into the pavement, ripped off her body armor, and made repeated and physical violent contact. The agent sustained serious injuries to her head and arm. Gabriel Hurtado-Cariaco entered the U.S. illegally in 2023—and Border Patrol removed him. In 2024—under the Biden administration—he re-entered the U.S. illegally and was released into the country with a notice to appear. The Department of Justice has charged Gabriel Hurtado-Cariaco with attempted murder of a federal officer and assault of a federal officer with infliction of bodily injury.
Science is not built upon anecdotes . An independent study just found that 90% of their detainees have never committed a violent crime. So yeah, this is being implemented SO inefficiently that there are thousands of better ways to spend my tax dollars.
The violent/nonviolent distinction is meaningless. Identity theft, distribution of fentanyl, possession of child pornography, and possessing a handgun after a felony conviction are all nonviolent crimes. Do you think those types of criminals shouldn’t be deported?
DP... Studies and FOIAs of ICE's own data show that apart from crossing the border, more than 90% of them didn't commit any kind of crime whatsoever. No criminal history, no prior convictions, nothing. Why are you trying to falsely smear them with being distributors of fentanyl, child porn et cetera when there's no evidence that most of them have any kind of history doing that?
DP- I would add that the Supreme Court has ruled numerous times that simply being in the country in and of itself was a not a crime.
Many of them are in felony violation of the law that was passed in the 1940s requiring registration with the federal government.
