Hear me out - they didn’t want kids, but it’s what their community demands, so they don’t really care if they live or die. I mean, not enough to invest in educating themselves on things like how to avoid killing your kids with measles. [/quote]

This. Having kids is a hoop they have to jump through to be considered an adult. So it really doesn't matter to them if these particular kids die or not, they have secured their status on their community. [/quote]
