No dog in the fight but can't understand why we are not all rallying behind the local clubs? I hoping Bethesda and Arlington represent well for the DMV!
I can't understand why people are fighting over kid's soccer. Let them play. ECNL is the top. Great for the kids that are there. Almost every kid in ECNL will be recruited. Leave the kids alone. They lost. That happens in life quite often for no reason at all. Good life lesson for them but they should not be called out on this or any forum. DCUM is great for area soccer because people can share info about what is happening that would be really hard to otherwise obtain. Let's keep that going and not spend time calling out kids who likely tried their best. See how they respond next season. Cheer them. Stop brining them down. Maybe High School or the older recruiting ages are fair game for this but not 10s and 11s.
People aren't fighting about u13 girls soccer. They're fighting about the concept of what a top player and winning team look like. Many on DCUM think that bigger and faster = wins and that there's only so many super talented players (ie watered down). This is not the case. Bigger and faster are nice but tactics, set plays, and consistency will win everytime over kickball.
Stop fighting over what a top player looks like or what a winning team looks like then. People have not a clue. And even if one did it does not matter because it is up to the clubs and not you and there is nothing that can be done. Let the kids play and stop being critical. Let them play and see what happens. Don't like a club -- pull the kid. But stop using kids are debating points.
