Official results here: https://arlingtondemocrats.org/school-board-candidate-mary-kadera-tops-arlington-democrats-record-breaking-endorsement-caucus/?fbclid=IwAR1i4Y8BYhqrX02Gat91kCrvIBAtV7X3jqw3lvq1N5-rmpLuKjxhcI4HqJc So, as a new resident of Arlington, and as a Democrat, let me get this straight: an important elected position, in a county that prides itself on its educational services, was decided by 6200 people among a population of over 200K? If 800 people had switched their votes, that would have changed the outcome....how is this representative democracy? Furthermore, moving to an all-online voting method only broke the previous record for turnout by...235 votes? So technology use is ok when it improves election turnout by a few percent, but technology use is not ok for teaching new material to kids because of "equity" concerns? I fail to see any benefit to this approach
Honestly, many parents and teachers are just damn tired and over it. We've seen what a school board an do - or not do. Ordinary citizens don't typically care. Some of you can't think of anything else to worry about but the rest of us are moving on. It just doesnt matter which M won. It's a sad truth.
This is somewhat true. I guess I just wanted to see more people caring as a result of the last year? Instead a) I’ve now watched SB meetings b) I have a piss poor impression of the SB and CB c) we’ve started taking about private school when that had never been in the conversation before (and yes, I realize we’re in a very privileged position to consider it).
