Even if it did her mom would probably have to return to work.  Why?  Is the insurance payout adjusted for inflation?  What about health insurance and other types of insurance?   I can imagine once one spouse is disabled the other spouse feels required to work.  Look, bad things happen and the easiest way to ensure you can provide for your family is to have a job.
