How can I reconcile their kindness to me one on one with the Republican policies and actions that are taking away people's healthcare, making future generations pay for tax cuts for today's super rich, tainting our supreme court with partisan operatives with a history of sex assault allegations and undermining our democracy with Trump's swampy cabinet and autocratic attitude about attacking the press and obstructing justice? My post is sincere. I think the modern GOP is basically evil so I am having a hard time understanding how someone can still be a Republican if they are a decent person.
Let me make a sincere reply. Your friend is highly likely to be brainwashed by conservative media. They probably do not know about the healthcare, tax cuts for the super rich, and undermining of democracy. And if they DO know about those things, they falsely think Democrats have done worse. They probably listen to Fox, or rightwing radio, or read Breitbart (90% Mercer funded) or the Daily Caller (85% Koch funded). There's a movie about this, called I think the "Brainwashing of my Dad". To understand your friend, watch that.
Oh, wow. Is this what you think about people who don't blindly agree with your liberal policies? That they're "brainwashed"? I'm an independent, and the responses I've seen from liberals on this site have made me 99% certain I will never vote for a Democrat again. You actually think that those who disagree with you are brainwashed. Just when I thought I'd heard everything.
+ 1 I've been shocked and appalled by the responses from liberals I've seen throughout this site. The sad thing is that calling people who disagree with them "brainwashed" is the nicest thing I've seen - much better than the racist, white nationalist, evil, Nazi, etc., they lash out with.
You also make your political decisions based on what anonymous people on a mommy website post? Interesting.
That, added to the hypocrisy I see and hear from my liberal neighbors, the reports from other conservatives about the tongue-lashing they have gotten from their liberal friends, and the display of the liberal media. PLUS, of course, their swing to the far-left and the misplaced priorities.
Yep. I also find it amusing that anyone who takes a more centrist approach is considered to be "far-right." What on earth has happened to this country?
It's unbelievable. I was the poster who said illegal immigration is my #1 priority, and the mod attacked me and called me a white nationalist.
It's interesting that at least that behavior seems to have tapered off somewhat. I think people are finally realizing that you can be 100% against illegal immigration and not be a "white nationalist." Kind of sad that it's taken them this long to get it.
What I think they realize is that calling people who want to take stronger action to contain illegal immigration "white nationalists" is an attack intended to get more Democrat votes that is backfiring, Sort of like when Schumer was ready to shut down the government (and cause hardship to hundreds of thousands of hard-working GS 5, 6, 7 employees who depend on timely pay to feed their families) over the interests of DACA adults (who Re acting entitled rather than appreciative). He realized that he was telling Americans that their ability to feed their families and pay the rent was not as important to him (and Democrats) as were the interests of illegal immigrants. He backed off, as you'll recall.
+100 So many of their over-the-top tactics have backfired. Of course, there are still fringe liberals who lap up any and all rhetoric against Republicans, but sane, rational, *normal* people have had enough of the theatrics.
