Avi Meyer on Twitter: Germany, 2018: The President of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, Josef Schuster, has warned Jews not to wear kippot (Jewish skullcaps) in major German cities due to the threat of antisemitic attacks. (Die Zeit)
Affects Jews in Metropolitan DC how?
Lmfao ! Careful bro didn't you know ? If they decide that it affects us then it must be so . Offering another perspective earns you the anti semtism accolade . What a world !
^^^ plenty of nasty resentment toward Jews who say they feel certain actions are antisemtic. if Jews think something is antisemtitc, they should shut up about it, right? There's more demonization against Jewish people than there is against White, who started all this with his repeated wrong behavior.
It’s more demonization against Mexicans than there is against whites - talk of walls being built got ICE agents snatching folks up - do Jews get that treatment? It’s more demonization against Muslims than there is against whites - talk of bans from specific countries got agencies monitoring their every move do Jews get that treatment? It’s more demonization against blacks than there is against whites - mass incarceration is out of control got cops shooting unarmed men left and right - do Jews get that treatment? Is it anti Semitic for me to point out other groups are catching hell?
Like I said, the resentment toward the Jews here is scary. More religious hate crimes are against Jews. Just admit that there is plenty of antisemtism. Can't do it, though, can you?
Can I do it, sure but guess what - I’m not going to do it to appease you. Hell no. And it’s not because you’re Jewish or because I’m antisemitic. Hardly the case. I’m not doing it because you ain’t about to dictate to me what issues I absolutely must be concerned about above all others. Nah that ain’t happening that sounds like some massa/slave plantation indoctrination shit to me. You trying to say it’s not enough for me see the wrong and denounce the wrong. No, I have to adamantly declare it to be THE most distressing wrong in the world today or else you gonna brand me. Not happening. Am I disturbed by bigotry and hatred and discrimination and resentment in any form? Definitely. But am I also allowed to be slightly more worried about the safety and well-being of my non-white friends and relatives who have to deal with the potential dangers of negative perceptions regarding their complexions that put them at risk every single day from people and from the police - am I allowed to be a little more concerned about them than I am worried about the safety and well-being of folks who at the very least have the benefit of white privilege working in their favor to garner them greater safety and just treatment? Hell yes I’m allowed and I’m not altering my emotions or realigning sentiments just to appease you.
Nice rant. What you are articulating is divisive. Understand that in most cases, Jews and particularly northern Jews (which in this context includes tens of thousands of people from the DC area) have stood against racism and bigotry in all forms, from Jim Crow era to the Muslim ban. What you are articulating is a selfish priority of racism over other forms of bigotry. That is certainly your right, but standing against all forms of racism and bigotry is a better solution. Don't do it because a PP asked you to. Do it because it is the right thing to do and is consistent with the teachings of both the Old and New Testaments. Remember the poem from Nazi Germany: First they came for the Communists And I did not speak out Because I was not a Communist Then they came for the Socialists And I did not speak out Because I was not a Socialist Then they came for the trade unionists And I did not speak out Because I was not a trade unionist Then they came for the Jews And I did not speak out Because I was not a Jew Then they came for me And there was no one left To speak out for me. We either grow stronger together or we all are marginalized apart.
