I imagine he’s trying to build community and keep the kids who would normally skip school or walk the hallways coming to class. A lot of students from low-income or immigrant families are so severely behind in their subject area that lose motivation quickly and they need a lure/ reward system to keep them in class. I teach advanced subject matter so I don’t have this problem. [/quote]
