Because it’s the debt ceiling timing allowing for all this pork to be swept in in the first place. Whether left or right, we see this dynamic of waiting until the 11th hour to force in ridiculous spending like $850k to a single Massachusetts elderly home, with one party holding it up via the debt ceiling. Can’t blame Dems or Rep solely, both sides do it. Let’s put an end to it.[/quote]

All of this "pork" is regular government stuff that would ordinarily be in the regular appropriations bills, in the yearly budget.  But we haven't had a budget in a long time, only strings of CRs.  So they put some of this in the CR.  It seems reasonable and both sides agreed and were going to vote for it.  Then, someone who is not part of the process and doesn't understand how the government works, tweeted about it.  And that, as they say, was that.[/quote]
